Description
During this 1 hour Taster Session, you will learn-
- How to draw a simple image on fabric ready for embroidering
- How to use an embroidery hoop for stitching your design
- How to thread a needle
- How to sew a simple back stitch
- How to cast off a stitch
At the end of the 1 hour session you are welcome to take your piece of embroidered fabric with you. If you decide you don’t like embroidery, that’s absolutely fine. It’s always good to try before you buy!
If you think you and your child would like to stay for longer than 1 hour, I will be running a second session after this one, starting at 12noon. So, we will take a 30 minute break from 11.30am to 12noon for toilet, drink of water and a snack (please bring your own snack). In the latter session, you will be given your own kit to keep and I will teach you how to transfer a drawing from paper to your fabric, so that you will leave knowing how to embroider any drawing you like. You can book onto the later session here- Summer Workshops
if you decide you would like to carry on embroidering at home, I will have needles, threads, hoops and scissors, as well as ready made DIY Embroidery Kits (which come with online video tutorials) for you to buy so you can continue doing your new hobby during the school holidays and weekends. Payment will be taken by debit or credit card using my SumUp machine. You can see all the kits currently available on my website shop here- DIY Embroidery Kits
If embroidery really does take your fancy and you enjoy doing it as part of a group, please take a look at the other sessions I will be running in Stockport during the school holidays. Mondays at Marple Library and Fridays at Cheadle Library. They are all listed in the Workshops section of my website shop here- Embroidery Workshops
